Stonehenge

The choreography "Stonehenge" was created for Codarts,
the high-school for the arts in Rotterdam. I was invited
by the artistic director Samuel Wuersten to devise a
lectureship for their dance students. I must admit that
I never saw myself as a teacher, but I have accepted this
invitation with the idea: "If you don't give these students
anything, they will have nothing to throw away"..!

The entire program was divided into several sections:

Dance and music -
Dance and technology -
Dance and costume -
Dance and Voice -
Dance and age -
Dance and architecture -

In all these experiments I was accompanied by the dancer
and choreographer Michael Schumacher. "Stonehenge" is
a choreography which we created together for the young
students in four days. It is based on the idea of space
and architecture we inhabit. All dancers had mobile panels
which were white on one side and black on the other. This
simple device gave them infinite possibilities to create
new architecture and unforeseen spaces.
